Thrombosis and Bleeding Disorders

چکیده
sons, except in a limited role of reference for a specific topic. It is an excellent book for the biologist, particularly the aquatic biologist, and is highly recommended for their general use. In addition it is a fine reference for those concerned with developing, establishing, and planning programs of water pollution control. It is unfortunate that the word "control" has been used in the title of the book. A more accurate title would have been simply Biology and Water Pollution. There is insufficient coverage of the control aspects of water pollution to merit use of the word. Mr. Warren is to be congratulated for this fine book which should help to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the biological aspect of water pollution. Students of aquatic biology are indebted to him for combining so much interrelated and interdependent material into a single text and for doing so with clarity and sensitivity.

Evaluation of Normal Range of Bleeding Scores in Healthy Iranian Adults using the International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis Bleeding Assessment Tool
Background: Bleeding assessment tools are key components in the evaluation of patients suspicious for bleeding disorders. The exact determination of the normal ranges of ISTH-BAT (International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis –Bleeding Assessment Tool) in the healthy population is a crucial step for determining who needs to be referred for further coagulation laboratory examinations. We ai...

Defects of hemostasis in patients with cancer have been first described by Trousseau in 1865, and Morrison studied altered coagulation in patients with malignancy as early as 1932. The first described abnormality of hemostasis in malignancy was that of hypercoagulability and thrombosis and the first large survey of blood changes in cancer patients showed accelerated bleeding times in over 60% o...

Background: The development of inhibitors is a complication factor replacement therapy in hereditary factor VIII deficiency. Several management options are available for the treatment of inhibitor. Rituximab, a monoclonal antibody against CD20, reduces inhibitor level in rare bleeding disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of rituximab in lowering or eliminating the ...
متن کاملBleeding and thrombosis in the myeloproliferative disorders.
Bleeding and thrombosis are major causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with myeloproliferative disorders. The significance of uncontrolled polycythemia as a risk factor for thrombosis in these patients has been established. However, the role of thrombocytosis in the pathogenesis of hemostatic complications remains controversial. Abnormalities of platelet function and prolongation of th...

متن کاملThrombosis in Inherited Fibrinogen Disorders.
Although inherited fibrinogen disorders (IFD) are primarily considered to be bleeding disorders, they are associated with a higher thrombotic complication risk than defects in other clotting factors. Managing IFD patients with thrombosis is challenging as anticoagulant treatment may exacerbate the underlying bleeding risk which can be life-threatening. Due to the low prevalence of IFD, there is...
